Four years after the death of the Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, his work is still revealing its richness, with a dense discographic activity (rarities, reissues, boxed set) but also concerts. 12 Conversations with Thilo Heinzmann is a suite of pieces for string quartet, first performed in London in 2016 before being reworked by Belgian ensemble Echo Collective, in agreement with Jóhannsson. It reveals a different side of his talent, closer to baroque music than to his work for film and his albums, where some electronic arrangements were often absent. Echo Collective will play this score as a regular at Days Off, after their superb orchestral reworking of Radiohead’s Amnesiac in 2018.
